Taj Travels
The perfect entry point into India for first-time visitors is, perhaps, India's Golden Triangle. The cities of Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur-which constitute the Golden Triangle-are exotic and not too far from India's capital, Delhi; and what's more is that how many ever times one may have seen picture postcards of the Taj Mahal, it will, nevertheless, still leave you spellbound when you lay eyes on it. Add to that the mystique and grandeur of Mogul and Rajput architecture, and the trip will be the journey of a lifetime .

To people the world over, the Taj Mahal—mausoleum of Mughal Empress Mumtaz Mahal—is synonymous with India. The curving, gently swelling dome and the square base upon which it rests so lightly, is a familiar image from hundreds of brochures, picture postcards, and travel books. But, these pictures do not adequately convey the legend, poetry, and romance that shroud what Nobel Laureate Tagore called “a teardrop on the cheek of time.”

Construction of the Taj began in 1631 and took 22 years to complete. 20,000 people were deployed to work on it, and material was brought in from all over India and central Asia on a fleet of 1000 elephants. Pearly pink at dawn and opalescent by moonlight, the Taj is best appreciated when the architecture and its adornments are linked to the passion that inspired it. As an architectural masterpiece, nothing could be added or subtracted from it. So exquisite is the workmanship that the Taj has been described as “having been designed by giants and finished by jewellers.”

The Taj counts among man’s proudest creations, and as a tomb, it has no parallel—for mortal remains have never been housed in greater grandeur. English poet Sir Edwin Arnold described it as: “Not a piece of architecture, as other buildings are, but the proud passions of an emperor’s love wrought in living stones.” The Taj Mahal is indeed a celebration of eternal love built in marble, and that’s the only way to appreciate its magnificence and poignant beauty. We have desgined an itinerary keeping all tastes in mind, for you ‘Taj Travel’ , there is an excellent variety of ‘Taj Resorts’ to choose from.
